Setting Up Product Expiry Dates: A Step-by-Step Guide

Managing product expiry dates is vital for maintaining the quality of your inventory and ensuring you don’t sell expired products. Follow these steps to efficiently set up and manage expiry dates using your VirtualRX account:

1. Adding or Editing Product Expiry Dates:
Access the Product List:
– Click on Products in the sidebar.
– Select List Products to view your product inventory.
Select the Product:
– Scroll through the list to find the product you wish to update.
– Click the Action Button on the corresponding product row.
Edit Opening Stock:
– Select Add or Edit Opening Stock.
– Note: Products must be assigned to one or more locations before they can be edited.
Set Expiry Date:
– For each product in each location, click the field under Exp Date.
– Use the calendar pop-up to select the date, month, and year of expiry.
– Click Save to apply the changes.

2. Adding Expiry Dates During Purchase:
Access Purchases:
– Click Purchases from the sidebar.
– Select Add Purchases.
Enter Purchase Details:
– Choose the supplier and business location.
– Use the search bar to find the product.
Set Manufacturing/Expiry Date:
– Scroll to the Mfg Date/Exp Date section and edit as needed.
– Use the pop-up calendar to select the expiry date.
– Click Save to confirm.

3. Enabling Product Expiry Settings:
Access Business Settings:
– From the sidebar, click on Settings.
– Select Business Settings.
Enable Product Expiry:
– Click on Product and find the Enable Product Expiry option.
– Choose either Add Item Expiry or Add Manufacture Date & Expiry Date based on your requirements.
– Check the checkbox to enable the feature.
– Scroll down and click Update Settings to save changes.
